I am Charlotte Phillips, licensed massage therapist, and I am Solace Clincal Massage.
I graduated from the Soma Institute, National School of Clinical Massage Therapy in March of 2005. I am licensed by the State of Illinois to practice massage therapy. I am nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I am a certified Dr. Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist. I am also certified in Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage.
I believe that every body has the innate ability to heal itself, and my job as a therapist is to help create conditions conducive to that healing. Massage doesn't have to hurt to be effective. The body has a sense of wholeness it wants to keep. A massage should bring the body back to neutral.
This philosophy is why I have chosen to focus on manual lymph drainage (MLD) and myofascial release (MFR) as my specialized techniques. MLD is so gentle and supportive of the body's natural healing mechanisms as well as being very effective at reducing swelling. It's a great technique for chronic and acute swelling and very helpful in the post-surgical time. MFR is a great next step, once the swelling has reduced, to increase range of motion, reduce scar tissue, and continue to support the body in its healing process.
